Dr James Stuart-Smith graduated from the University of Melbourne and has been proudly providing dental care to local families for over 30 years, he’s now caring for second, and even third, generations of the same families, something he finds incredibly rewarding.
James is passionate about finding long-term solutions for his patients. He values building trusting relationships and believes in working as a partner in each person’s dental health journey. His calm and thoughtful approach puts patients at ease, and he takes pride in delivering care that’s both thorough and personalised.
He also has a strong interest in cosmetic dentistry and enjoys helping patients improve their smiles. With modern techniques and materials, James can often make a noticeable difference in a way that’s less invasive and more comfortable than ever before. Seeing the boost in confidence a new smile can bring is one of the most satisfying parts of his work.
A firm believer in lifelong learning, James regularly attends continuing education courses to stay up to date with the latest advances in dentistry and to ensure his patients receive the best care possible.
Outside the clinic, James enjoys spending time with his two children, one of whom is now a dentist. He also loves running and bushwalking and loyally following the ups and downs of the Collingwood Football Club—win or lose.
Dr Mudar Eshaya has been practising dentistry in Melbourne for over 18 years, with the past 15 years dedicated to caring for patients at Edgars Road Dental.
Mudar is committed to delivering high-quality care. He enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, including preventative and restorative care. However, his main clinical interests lie in the gentle and effective removal of teeth, including impacted wisdom teeth*.
Mudar is fluent in both Arabic and Assyrian, which helps him connect with a broader community. Outside of dentistry, he’s a devoted father to four growing children who keep him on his toes.
Dr. Ankita, a skilled dentist with a passion for dentistry, embarked on her journey in India, where she obtained her dental qualifications. After successfully clearing the Australian dental council registration examination, she further honed her skills through training at the Royal Hospital, solidifying her expertise in the field.
Driven by her commitment to patient care, Dr. Ankita is dedicated to addressing her patients’ long-term dental needs. She finds fulfillment in educating her patients, firmly believing in the power of prevention. Her approach focuses on removing obstacles to optimal dental health, ensuring her patients achieve lasting relief and regain their best selves.
With an interest aesthetic and surgical dentistry, Dr. Ankita excels in a range of procedures, including veneers, crown and bridge, wisdom tooth removal and orthodontics for both adults and children. Her warm demeanour and friendly nature make her a favourite among her younger patients, earning her the affection of kids.

Dr Sophie Stuart-Smith is a compassionate and enthusiastic dentist with a strong focus on patient-centred care. She graduated with honours from La Trobe University and brings over six years of prior experience as a dental assistant at Edgars Road Dental. This early foundation helped her develop excellent communication skills and a deep understanding of patient needs.
Sophie believes in treating the whole person, not just their teeth. She enjoys working closely with patients to help them achieve their oral health goals, recognising the important role that medical and social factors play in dental care. Her clinical interests include restorative dentistry, periodontics, crown and bridge work, and minor oral surgery.
Sophie has a gentle and empathetic approach that makes her especially skilled at caring for anxious or nervous patients. She takes the time to listen, explain each step, and ensure her patients feel comfortable, supported, and in control throughout their dental experience.
Known for her approachable nature and love of learning, Sophie is always happy to answer questions and takes the time to ensure patients feel informed and comfortable. She regularly participates in continuing professional development to stay up to date with the latest techniques and research in modern dentistry.
Outside of dentistry, she enjoys reading, sipping tea, and spending time with her two beloved labradoodles.
